How to Tell if Your Mini Brands Are Rare

A five-step check to tell if a Mini Brand you pulled is rare: series, collector guide, checklist number, finish and the series checklist.

You've opened a capsule and want to know: is this one rare? Rarity depends on the series, so the answer always comes from that series' collector guide, not from how shiny or unusual the mini looks. Here's how to check, step by step. To browse every rare mini at once, use the rare Mini Brands list.

Step 1: Which series did it come from?

Start with the capsule, box or collector guide, which names the line and series number. Most series use their own capsule design, and the guide inside lists only that series' minis. If you've lost the packaging, search for the mini by name on the rare Mini Brands list or in site search; most names only appear in one series.

Step 2: Find it on the collector guide

The fold-out collector guide shows every mini in the series and marks its rarity tier. Each series prints its own key, so use the key on that guide. The tiers run from Common up through Rare, Super Rare and Ultra Rare, and newer lines add Luxury, Iconic and Legendary. Rarity levels explained covers what each one means.

Step 3: Match the checklist number

Each mini has a number on the collector guide, and it matches the number on our series checklists. The number is the fastest way to tell apart look-alike minis, for example a Common item and its Gold or Frozen Moment version.

Step 4: Check the finish separately

A special finish doesn't make a mini rare by itself. Look at the finish and the tier separately:

  • Metallic: a reflective, mirror-like sheen, not just glossy paint.
  • Gold: a gold treatment across the whole object. Often Super Rare, but Common in some series. See every Gold mini and its tier.
  • Glow in the Dark: looks normal in daylight. Hold it under a bright light, then check it in a dark room.
  • Frozen Moments: the mini is sculpted mid-action, like a pour or splash, often on its own base. Usually Ultra Rare or higher. Browse every Frozen Moment, or see What are Frozen Moments?.
  • Mini Minis: extra-tiny minis, sometimes hidden inside a box accessory in the capsule.
  • Scented and Real Liquid: check gently. Don't open seals or rub the label, since that wears it down.

Step 5: Confirm on the series checklist

Open the series checklist on this site to see the mini's tier and finish side by side, then mark it as collected. That also tells you which chases you're still missing. The rare Mini Brands list groups every series' rare minis by tier, and you can filter it by series.

FAQ

How can I tell if my Mini Brand is rare without the collector guide?
Search for the mini by name on our site. Its mini page and series checklist show its tier and finish.
Are shiny or gold Mini Brands always rare?
No. Gold and Metallic are finishes. Many are Rare or Super Rare, but some series list Gold minis as Common.
What is the rarest type of Mini Brand?
Legendary is the highest label, used in newer lines. In older core series the top label is Ultra Rare. These labels describe each series' checklist, not measured pull odds.
Do variants differ by country?
Assortments and packaging can differ between markets and production runs, so the collector guide in your own capsule is the best reference.
