What makes a Mini Brand rare?

Every mini has a rarity tier, printed on its series' collector guide. The tiers below are the rare ones, from the highest label down. Not every series uses all of them, so compare a mini with others in its own series.

  1. Legendary
    21 minis

The highest label on the collector guides of the newer series that use it. Each of those series has only one to three Legendary minis.

  2. Iconic
    37 minis

Iconic is the label just below Legendary, used in the same newer lines.

  3. Luxury
    64 minis

Luxury minis are high-end chase items, used in newer lines such as Home, Retro, Books, KFC and Disney Store Series 3.

  4. Ultra Rare
    184 minis

Ultra Rare is the top tier in most Toy and Foodie series and in core Series 4 and 5, and includes many Frozen Moments.

  5. Super Rare
    87 minis

Super Rare is one tier below Ultra Rare. Still a meaningful chase, often paired with a Gold finish.

  6. Rare
    266 minis

Rare is the first tier above Common, and Rare minis frequently carry finishes like Metallic or Glow in the Dark.

Finishes aren't tiers

Gold, Metallic, Glow in the Dark, Frozen Moments, Create and other finishes are a separate label. A finish often goes with a high tier, but not always: 56 Gold minis are Common in their series. Read the tier, not just the finish. More in Rarity levels explained. New to Frozen Moments? See Frozen Moments explained.

How to identify a rare Mini Brand

Two minis can look alike and sit in different tiers, so go by the series' own checklist.

  1. Work out the series. The capsule, box or collector guide names the line and series number. Most series have their own capsule design.
  2. Find the mini on the collector guide. The fold-out guide inside the capsule lists every mini in the series and marks its rarity.
  3. Match the checklist number. Each mini has a number on the guide. The cards on this page show it as #12 next to the series name.
  4. Confirm on the series checklist. Search for the mini above, or open its series in the list by series, to see its tier and finish.

Are rare Mini Brands worth money?

Some have an active resale market, but a rarity label isn't a price tag. Values depend on demand, condition and how easy the series is to find, and they change over time.

To research a price:

  • Look at sold listings, not asking prices. Asking prices only show what sellers hope for.
  • Compare like with like: same mini, same finish, same condition, and whether it comes with its capsule or packaging.
  • Check several recent sales, since one high sale isn't a market price.

Rare Mini Brands FAQ

What are rare Mini Brands?
Rare Mini Brands are minis that their series' collector guide places above Common. The tiers, from the lowest label to the highest, are Rare, Super Rare, Ultra Rare, Luxury, Iconic and Legendary. Not every series uses every tier.
How many rare Mini Brands are there?
Our database lists 659 Mini Brands at Rare tier or above, across 51 series. A further 224 minis have a special finish but a Common or Uncommon tier.
What is the rarest Mini Brand?
There's no single answer, because ZURU doesn't publish pull odds. Legendary is the highest label on the collector guides that use it: our database lists 21 Legendary minis, with 37 Iconic just below. Labels describe each series' own checklist, so compare a mini with others in its series rather than across releases.
How do you tell if a Mini Brand is rare?
Work out which series it came from, then find it on that series' collector guide insert, which marks each mini's rarity. You can also look it up by name on this page or on the series checklist.
Is every Gold Mini Brand rare?
No. Gold is a finish, not a rarity tier. Many Gold minis are Super Rare, but 56 Gold minis in our database are listed as Common. Check the tier on the collector guide, not just the finish.
What are Frozen Moments Mini Brands?
Frozen Moments are minis sculpted mid-action, like a pour or a splash. They are usually Ultra Rare or higher. Our database lists 54 of them.
Are rare Mini Brands worth money?
Some have an active resale market, but a rarity label isn't a price tag. Prices change and depend on condition and demand, so check recently sold listings, not asking prices, before buying or selling.
